Drive Atlas / Duplicate finder
Duplicates
Find the same footage sitting on three drives
Drive Atlas finds duplicate files, folders and image sequences across all your drives at once. You decide what to keep. Nothing is deleted on a guess.
The problem
Copying a project to "one more drive, just in case" feels safe every time. After a few years the same footage lives on three or four drives and you are out of space.
Most duplicate finders work on one drive at a time, or they guess based on names. Guessing is dangerous next to a delete button.
How it works
- Find the groupsDrive Atlas groups matching files, whole folders and image sequences across every drive in the catalog, plugged in first, biggest saving first.
- Verify and pick a keeperPress Verify to check the copies' contents. Mark the copy you want to keep. If two files share a name but differ inside, the group is marked as not duplicates.
- Clear the restMove the other copies to the Recycle Bin. Each file is checked against the copy you are keeping at the moment of deletion, and any file that doesn't match stays where it is.

Good to know
How the check worksFiles up to 1 GB are compared byte for byte before they move. For larger files there is a box to run the same full check, which is slower because it reads every byte.
Recycle Bin, never erasedDeleted files go to the Recycle Bin, and every file the app has ever moved is written to a deletion log. You can also export a checklist and do the deleting yourself.
No fuzzy matchingDrive Atlas doesn't do "similar photo" guessing. It only groups files it can prove are the same. App cache files are ignored, so they don't clutter the list.
What it can't do
To verify or delete, every copy in a group has to be plugged in. Groups on offline drives still show up, so you can plan which drives to bring out together.
Questions
How do I find duplicate files across multiple external drives?
Scan each drive into Drive Atlas. It compares all of them at once and groups duplicate files, folders and image sequences, even when the drives aren't plugged in at the same time.
Is it safe to delete duplicates?
Drive Atlas checks each file against the copy you are keeping before it moves anything, refuses any file that doesn't match, and only uses the Recycle Bin. Every deletion is logged.
Will it delete anything automatically?
No. Nothing is deleted until you press the button, and only the copies you didn't mark as the keeper.
Does it find similar photos?
No, on purpose. It only groups files that are actually the same. Similar-image guessing next to a delete button is how people lose work.
